Also on a very sad front which made a grown man cry our buddy Wag was put down last Saturday as he contracted the canine version of acute lymphoid leukemia. It was very sudden, about a week from when he was diagnosed to the end.

Lydia put some words together about "Wag"...

Wag

Today we said goodbye to the dearest of old friends.
As the tears run down my cheeks I know that he is at peace and that is all I could ask for.
We had eleven years together, I will treasure and hold tight to my fond memories of you Wag.
Wag was always there for us
Wag loved to nudge us with his head at the dinner table
Wag loved to push his way between your legs - to get the pat on each side ( he wasnt silly!)
Wag loved to rest his head on our lap.
Wag loved to have his paws massaged.
Wag groaned with delight when you massaged the base of his tail.
Wags tail never stopped wagging.
Wag may not have been a conformation or obedience super star but to us
Wag was and always will be the perfect dog.
Wag was a gentleman, always.
Goodbye Wag - there will always be a place in my heart that will ache for you.
RIP Wag (1999 to 2010)

Nothing wrong with a grown man crying bud when you lose a pet....I lost "My Girl" aged 14 years,a beautiful Labrador cross cocker spaniel, came home one night to find her a quadriplegic on the back verandah.....they are a part of your family Ron, and like losing any family member, they leave a huge void in your heart mate....

R.I.P. WAGS

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

...You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
