Bought myself a xmas present. It's a VT SS 5.0L auto. In pretty good condition, just a few interior bits to replace that are broken and a few other small bits and pieces to do, but nothing major.

I assume it's the whole light. Will send him a msg and make sure tho. They sold now and not sure how much it will cost to get another set coz apparently it was a "xmas special".

Tried having a look for the option codes off the net but couldn't find them listed anywhere. The suspension is FE2 tho, I know that one lol.

Got the 20's on it now.

Looks sweet-as!

BUT- Either get rid of those tail lights, or preferrably- get a colour coded VX boot garnish and monaro styled headlights.

Like the 20's better than the old mags. Wink

Ahhh the old 304. Can see a polishing project there !

Nice ride there Danny. Good to see the old traditional 5 Litre in a club members ride. They make a very nice note when attached to a sports system, especially if you introduce a header to the mix.

Cheers

Thx for the comments guys.

A mate sent me a msg this mornin saying he has some tail lights, so will see how much he wants for them. Might not worry bout the tinted ones yet. Cash is tight for a few weeks until I get the important things outta the way like new tyres lol. The 18's are pretty much brand new with no gutter rash, scratches or anything (odd for a chick driver lol), and tyres are still decent...thinkin bout selling them to fund new tyres for the 20's.....but not sure if I really want to yet, might hang onto them for a little while.

Oh and she has a sweet note! It has Advance Headers into a twin X-Force system! Very Happy

Short vid I made of the exhaust note.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiALW8g47Vg

Bought a "headlight restoration kit" from Repco, didn't do a bad job. Prolly could have spent a bit more time on it, but it turned out pretty good.
Before and after.

The passenger strut top looked a bit rooted, so changed them both.
Old and the new.
Danny's VT SS DSCF5476640x480

2 new tyres, will see how these go and if they're not to bad I'll save up for 2 more.
Danny's VT SS DSCF5488640x480

New deck to replace the crusty original one. Also made a harness to go from VT to JVC. The "off the shelf" ones had the wrong plug for the deck for some reason. Haven't finished it yet tho, still gotta tape up the wires.

Got VX tail lights in it at the moment. Will paint up the VX garnish black, then tint the tail lights and see how it looks.

I might get superlows to go all round I think. Alot of VT's I've seen here have them and they don't look toooo bad. It's got FE2 at the moment, but yeah still sits on the high side. Think I'll get pump up shocks for the back, atleast then we can change the ride height in the bum. We'll see how we go with funds tho.

I'm gonna paint up the new garnish black, then tint the tail lights so hopefully will look ok. Apparently a good way to do it is spray clear with a bit of black mixed in, so might give that a shot I rekon. Then put about 5-6 coats of straight clear on afterwards so I can polish it up so it's shiny as!

Might do it next week I rekon, will post up pics of the results.

Thx mate. Yeah would love to be able to drive again, but still got just over 2 and a half years left until I get my licence back. I got 3 years from the courts and 1.5 years from loss of demerit points (24 offences at about 4 points each....I'm in the red a bit lol), but my lawyer (who was pretty much useless) rekons I can appeal the 1.5 years from the demerit points when the first 3 years are up....so that means I could be driving from April 21, 2012......otherwise it will be Oct 21st 2013 if I don't appeal it. Either way I go back onto my P's coz one of the offenses was committed while on my P's (well most of them were). But atleast I don't have to resit any tests, the cutoff date for that is 5yrs lol.

Yeah got to suck but I suppose thats what is happening these days, Its just a shame they have such low penalties for Drink drivers. Think they should lose there licence for 10 years and a $5,000 or 2 years jail for first offence, And take licence for good and throw away the key to second offence. Sorry so harsh but had a friend killed by a drink driver, no excuse for it. Anyway off topic. Keep up the good work on the VT and the VH Wags, I got my VN Calais to do so I will be busy as well.

Sorry about the off topic

I feel the same about drink drivers. I have no time for them.

Oh and it's a VK wagz not a VH lol.

UPDATE:
Might have some new wheels soon. Trying to "seal the deal" on another set of 20's. They look bloody nice, I rekon they'll be better then the current ones. Hopefully we can get them!

Got the windows tinted on Saturday, and also changed the tail lights. Swapped a mate the fancy ones which come with the car for his series 2 tail lights. Have ordered superlow springs, new pads and slotted rotors all round, will get them on payday this week hopefully!

Thx mate. Nah no major plans. As soon as it's lowered and have the new brakes on that will prolly be it for now. There's a few small things I need to get for it like new speaker grills, and the driver seat has a tear in the side...but yeah just small stuff like that to make it look immac. I guess a respray would be on the cards down the track but not anytime soon. It has a few touchups around it from scratches and chips. Ya can't see them unless u look hard tho so it's not a big drama. Oh and will still do the power window conversion at some stage.

I want to keep it fairly original. I don't wanna go overboard, just wanna have a nice, clean street car that we can just jump in and go anywhere in. It uses a fair bit of juice tho, not sure if all VT 5.0L's are like that?? Doesn't use as much as the VK wagz uses, but doesn't go as hard as the wagz either, so dunno wat the go is. I thought EFI was suppose to be half decent with fuel economy lol.

should be around 13-14L/100km around town but with the way you guys drive then id say 16L/100kms around town on open road should be around 10-12L/100km. the VT's are heavy and the auto wouldn't help. a remap ecu would help hp and fuel economy

It doesn't get driven hard at all. Occasionally Brad mashes the pedal just to hear it, but that's not very often coz the fuel gauge literally moves when he does that lol. It's only hit the limiter once which was when we were making that video of the exhaust note (hit it when it was free revving), and we've never manual shifted it.

Was thinkin of hittin green foam up for a tune, might have to see wat he charges.
