Apologies:

(everyone else)

Inspector Philip Newitt
Investigation Manager, Major Crash Investigation Unit
-In charge of SA police force taskforce 'diagonal'
-The taskforce is not set up to take car enthusiasts (not 'hoons'). They are targeting hoons, especially those who abuse the roads.
-The events that occurred in late June started this taskforce, to remove the problems on the road
-There are some clubs who do not opperate as a true club, and instead get together and try and race through a certain route
-Sometimes these events turn into burnouts in certain metropolitan areas
-It is not just clubs we are targeting, but people who get 'enjoyment' out of disrupting the local community, such as those who drive at 100 in a 50 zone.
-Its makes it easier when there is a pattern to this as we can target these areas.
-We are the 6 club that Philip has spoken to
-Some level of media coverage has generated a level of fear in proper clubs.
-We have brought together some specialised police officers from various areas of the police force to be part of the task force.
-One of the 'clubs' had a drag that had 70 people as spectators. If anything were to occur, serious injury could happen to not only the driver but also the spectators, similar to the recent event in America
-Our information comes from reports from people in the community.
-131 444 is the policed attendance line, and is to be used to report any road issues.
-Gorge Rd is a very difficult road to set up any automated speed detection system, only local community efforts along with the taskforce can affect this.
-The community has to get their voice heard if they wish for something to happen. The government will not know what is wrong if no one speaks up.
-There are two sides to the 'drag strip' issue for SA.
-It is an outlet, but people will continue to illegally drive anyway
-Misuse of a motorvehicle is a serious event and we can impound the car for 7 days.
-An undue sound offence carries an on the spot fine of $170.
-The police force reserves the right to 'pull over' a vehicle to inspect it at any time.
-Speed cameras can be an emotional thing, but they are not. In the early days, people raced to work at 90, in a 60 zone, but nowadays, people are more weary about the situation and sit at 55 to 60 generally, so speeding has reduced.

Things we notice all the time
-not wearing a sealtbelt
-body ejected from vehicle
-speed
-drugs
-inattention
-pedestrians

-since the 70's accidents are going down per year, factors that help this is the police force, vehicle improvements and the community

-We receive 16,000 to 18,000 calls a year through the 131 444
-A letter will be sent as a caution to the vehicle owner
-Caution infringement notice
-infringement notice
-driver will go to court

-Philip believes that the driving lights are only used for hazardous driving conditions such as heavy rain and fog
-GPS's while not illegal to position on your windscreen, obstruct the view of the road.
-If a report is given about someone who is blaring music from their vehicle, a letter is sent to the driver, to cease the noise.
-Some parts that are factory installed are not legal, such as exhaust systems and driving lights
-The South Australian police department has much more 'powers' tin the legislation that govern the SA roads, especially when compared to NSW or VIC where there has been corruption in the police force.
-The taskforce we are in charge of only targets criminal behaviour. Drivers that abuse the laws stand in court and are instructed to a curfew of 9pm and 6am

Pazz – Vice President:
Any questions you have, especially technical ones, please forward them to me and I'll pass it to Philip. I will also organise for a Traffic Police Officer to come here for a meeting.

Thanks to all that came to the quiz night, excellent time and good turnout.

There is a motoplex demonstration, that is coming up and will be shutting down part of North tce. It really is the one and only chance to make our voices heard to the government, on August 28th.

Christmans breakup – we need to vote what we want to do.
a) Bowling at the Woodville Bowls
b) Go carts
c) Away trip

There were a large number of people who raised their hands for going away. However, there will be a pole on the forum for people to vote. This is for the 28/29 of November.

We have had a letter from the Street Machine for affiliation for the whole club. Its $50 for the club to become an affiliate.
We will get exposure on the SMASA site
Discount for club entries
Newsletter from them
And gold class to 'Navgas'

Majority has agreed that we should do this.

A Rocktober, 25th of October. This is for children in broken homes and of the state. A trip to Mannum and a free lunch if you have a kid in your car.

Last meeting we handed out Sponsor feedback forms, however we have not received any back. We need these forms back as we are about to renew a lot of the sponsorships, and we need the numbers to prove that these sponsors are being used.

We've had a report of a white commodore doing donuts in the Marion car park with a club sticker. If anyone knows of any details please contact the club committee. Please also ensure that if you sell a car, remove the club sticker.

Pazz has a Repco 'matrix' for discounts through the club. You get a trade card which can be used at any store. If you'd like one, fill out a form and then hand it to Pazz. A card will be sent to you after it has been processed.

Christine stars in the latest Street Commodores magazine, in the Monaro Nationals. Good on ya Christine!
