Tell ya I just had a scroll through the past events on the website, And gee we had some really great time in the Club. Lots of really friendly and funny people. Some really good turn outs as well. I suppose times are changing with the car scene, probably much to do with the cost of petrol and living these days. Such a real shame. Wish they could go back to the way they were. We still have great people in the club but the changing times is changing the Club scene. Such a damn shame.

you hit the nail on the head cliff.......back in those days you only needed $20,000 deposit to buy a house, petrol was under $1.00 a litre, you only worked 5 days a week, and also some didnt have kids, or had newborns....now those kids are older they are into sports, which unfortunately are predominently played on weekends , so the parents have to run them back and forth to sporting commitments.

Life is just so much more hectic now that most people on their only day off for the week ( Sunday), all they want to do is sit at home and relax, but even that doesnt usually happen, as they have gardens/building projects to tend to, washing, ironing, dishes,as well as family obligations......

Sad but something we must take on board as a club, as we have to move with the times, and look at other ways to attract new members/keep old members, enthusiastic about being a part of this great club.

Just my 2 cents anyway....cheers Andy

Thank God I came along all those years back to be one of those great people yes/no, I do fall into that category don't I ??? I mean that immaculate wagon and its good looking, slightly aged, yellowed teeth, thin grayed hair owner with a fantastic wit still here as a club member !!!!

Cliff/Andy it's true what you guys say, changing times and commitments eg school and the grad balls, fees, fixing the home, fixing the Honda and the Wagon AND DON'T FORGET THOSE FRIGGEN DAM DOGS, the wife (who is loving and caring for ......) and my 2 daughters (who are loving and caring when it suits them Laughing ) do take there toll. Still it's guys like Pazz, Jason/Kim and the rest of the crew that do the hard yards and keep the club going. I guess it's a pity that all of those other paid up members that we don't see very often come along and make a contribution of some sorts either at the monthly meet or car show. As they say "variety is the spice of life" that's why I sleep in the same bed as Wag !

This topic I put up was not meant to be me having a go at anyone or the Club. It was just me comparing how things have changed over the years that I have been in the Club.
And I put it down to the price of petrol and the new laws for cars now. I remember the 1st cruise I ran when I 1st took on the Club we had 97 cars turn up, Shocked the crap out of me lol. But I dont know what it is, But we use to have a lot more people wanting to show there cars and come out on cruises. This is why I put it down to petrol prices and the new rule on cars. I can say its anything to do with family because I was working paying for a house and had 3 kids and football on weekends for my kids. I still had no trouble coming to all events. And also running the Club, Well I think thats what I did lol.

Anyway as I said the post is not having a go at anyone or the Club its just me sort of wishing times could come back to the way they were years back. But I know that will not happen.

Cheers all

Would love to see the participation back to the way it was but with rising costs etc I doubt it will ever happen. Maybe we should have a mini break in the middle of the year so people can catch up on projects...save cash etc?

Would be impressed if we had 20 cars out to the cruise on Sunday much less 97???? that would have been an impressive sight

The days are gone of when you will get large numbers to a cruise.. I for one will probably never attend another one because of my latest predicament. I used to enjoy it but its not worth it anymore.

what predicament? if people arent being stupid then you should be fine with the cops and as long as the club sticks to its rules then everybody should be fine. Cool

It wont stop me modifying my car i just wont take it out on cruises especially at night.. I've never had a problem with the law for the last 2 years the cam has been in. The laws are just getting ridiculous.

Maybe a thought to the committee? More day cruises Smile

Since we joined the club, there has been day cruises which for us as a family is great! I think the club has done a fantastic job with the cruises and events organised, we have enjoyed all of them, and so have our kids!

Also before I put the club sticker on my car we used to get pulled over by the police all the time, not for any reason, simply to drug test me and check out the car, however recently I havent had any problems. Dont know if it has anything to do with the sticker or not!

We dont go on any other cruises as we just dont know what/who will be there, however with our club everyone that comes along is sensible and abides by the road laws which I think is why we dont have problems with the police.. we put our $70 petrol away each month to go on the cruise as its a fantasic day out that we can take our kids too..

So having said all that.. we think the club and the events organised with club is fantastic, despite the smaller turn outs its always a great time had by all from what we can tell!! So well done to all the committee and organisers.. no complaints here, you doing a great job!!
